Volunteer

Up to 70 volunteers are needed to help assure a successful and safe event for all Tour de Ste. Genevieve participants. We need you. The Tour de Ste. Genevieve cannot take place without the help and contributions of our volunteers. Get involved NOW!

Volunteer positions are available in 2-3 hour shifts - before, during, and after the race.

Marshals, Lead and Follow VehiclesRoad and Traffic Marshals (26 needed / 3 confirmed)
We need lots of road and traffic marshalls to work 2 hour shifts during race hours. We're looking for assertive and attentive types to work with law enforcement officials to slow up or stop any traffic deemed dangerous to riders at critical points along the race course. Responsibilities have everything to do with keeping motorists and cyclists from colliding at key points along the race route. We will provide Road Marshals with stylish vests and high tech handheld communications devices (walkie talkies). Chorus line dancing skills are optional, but highly entertaining.

Marshals, Lead and Follow VehiclesKids Race (5 needed / 5 confirmed)
Help register the future superstars of cycling for their race. Herd the kids into their starting groups and get them started racing, hopefully in the direction of the finish line. When each race is over, you get to pass out medals (or just pass out). We'll need you for about 2 hours, starting one hour before race time.

Registration desk (12 needed / 3 confirmed)
Must be able to work with children between the ages of 14 and 80. Register cyclists for their races and ensure all paperwork (rider release forms, race numbers, and money!) is in its right place. As a bonus, you'll get to answer the same questions over and over again, mostly about pointing racers and other volunteers in the right direction. These positions require about 2 hours of your time. You'll need to report to duty 1 hour prior to first race of the day.

Drivers (21 needed / 3 confirmed)
Lead Vehicle
Drive about 100 yards in front of the race leader(s) with your lights and hazard blinkers on at all times. This is an important position which helps ensure a safe and fair race for all participants. You will coordinate closely with race officials throughout the race. You will be needed approximately 1 hour prior to the start of the race and for the duration of the race. You will be compensated for mileage.

Wheel Vehicle
Your vehicle will carry racers' spare wheels to be used in case of a flat. Drive 50 - 75 yards minimum distance behind riders with your lights and hazard blinkers on. This is also an important position which helps ensure a safe and fair race for all participants. You will coordinate closely with race officials throughout the race. You will be needed approximately 1 hour prior to the start of the race and for the duration of the race. You will be compensated for mileage.

Please contact us if you are interested and available to be a part of Le Tour de Sainte Genevieve.
